How To Get Fit And Healthy For Your Wedding Day?

The weeks leading up to a wedding can be quite stressful, especially for the people getting married themselves! Murphy’s Law goes: “Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong” and is truly demonstrated when several people and things come together to plan your special day; endless errands, last minute adjustments, reviewing the guest list for the hundredth time, you name it! In this tizzy, one thing often gets compromised on to make sure everything is perfect: your health! It’s understandable of course, but one should take extra care to make sure that you’re in the best shape possible, both mentally and physically. They say in ‘sickness and in health’, but one hardly wants to start off the journey the same way, am I right?! These are a few things to keep in mind when you find yourself in the midst of your wedding preparation thinking: “How do I make it till the end?”

Get Some Shut-eye

During the weeks leading up to your wedding, you might be tempted to stay up all night putting together favors or working on the seating arrangement. Don’t! Research shows that sleep helps boost your immune system – not to mention that you look and feel better after getting the recommended eight hours of sleep regularly. If you’re having trouble sleeping or can’t fit those eight hours into your schedule, try to find ways to de-stress before bed.

Exercise

Often the first thing to get compromised on, but don’t let your wedding preparations get in the way of you looking good and feeling your best! Don’t do it just to look good on your wedding day either, exercise is one of the most important things that you can do for your body and is also sure to help you reach your wedding day goals! Don’t overdo it, especially if you’re getting back to it after a while. Talk to a trainer or your friends, listen to your body and take it slow if you need to! Don’t eat less because you want to speed up the process, your body needs even more nutrition if you’re going to be working out, and the best results never happen overnight, you have to work for it. Start at least a couple of month before, and make sure that you stick to a routine that gives you consistency, all the way till your wedding. Plus, it’s a good way to de-stress in the midst of the wedding madness!

Exercise

Feed Yourself

Skipping meals might seem like a good idea for the bride who wants to lose a few pounds before her big day, but the simple truth is that your body needs that nourishment in order to maintain its energy and keep up with your jam-packed schedule. Eating a diet rich in lean protein, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables can help ward off illness (and also help you slim down the healthy way). Keep snacks like fresh or dried fruit, pretzels, rice cakes, or whole wheat crackers in your purse so you can eat right, even when you’re on the run. Oh, and while we’re at it, don’t forget the water! Busy people often forget to drink water, and this could leave you feeling dehydrated and low on energy, especially when you have so many things to do. Keep a bottle on you always, you’ll thank us later!

Healthy Eating

Take Your Vitamins

Even if you eat a healthy diet, give your body a boost by adding a few supplements to your daily routine during this stressful time. Don’t forget to check our flexible wedding diet planVitamins A and C have been proven to prevent the flu and cold, while research has shown that people who took one garlic supplement per day were less likely to get a cold — and if they did, their symptoms were less severe and they recovered faster.

Stamp Out Stress

The bottom line is, stress on its own can make you sick. Studies have shown that stress promotes the release of a hormone that can prevent the immune system from working properly. So no matter how busy you are, make the time to give your body and mind a chance to rest and rejuvenate. Take a yoga class, treat yourself to a massage, or simply go for a brisk 10-minute walk. If you feel like meditation could help (and it really does!) find 10-15 minutes in a day when you can just relax and focus on yourself. It might not seem like a lot but will definitely help you in your goal to get fit and healthy before your wedding day. Just breathe and do what you can; trust us – the wedding planning will still be there when you get back!
